Key Benefits

• Delivers 50 mpg for the average car

• 50% reduction in automotive pollution

• Save over a half billion dollars and eliminate billions of pounds of unwanted CO2 per day!

• Total reduction in gasoline by millions of gallons per day.

• Reduces fuel consumption by 50% over conventional internal combustion engines.

Key Applications

- The primary market for a high efficiency internal combustion engine is the automobile industry.

- Although the new technology is directly applicable to a wide range of engine uses, the initial focus will be to sell licensing agreements to the auto industry where there is known benefits and market potential.

THE THIRD CYCLE ENGINE
(PATENT PENDING
)

rc engineThe United States consumes over 400 million gallons of gasoline each day.

Because of the low efficiency of the common internal combustion engine, 70% of the fuel consumed is wasted as heat. In the United States alone, 200 million automobiles with common internal combustion engines are in use. If these autos were equipped with the third cycle internal combustion engine, major energy savings would be achieved.

Current technology uses  computers, fuel injection and modern combustion chamber design and has resulted in some moderate fuel economy gains and better pollution control, but more needs to be done.  A new technology, the Lydell Third Cycle Engine, utilizing cylinder heat quenching minimization methodology is under development. This new engine, coupled with an appropriate transmission will yield significant efficiency improvements and be a direct replacement for conventional engines.

Potential savings

Internal combustion engines (automobiles, trucks, buses, etc) account for 45% of the petroleum used in this country. The United States consumes over 20 million barrels of oil per day. (60% is imported) From those 21 million barrels (882 million gallons), we get 413 million gallons of gasoline per day plus all other petroleum by-products. (Diesel fuel, heating oil, aviation fuel, etc.)
Potentia Savings

Internal combustion engines are 23 to 27% efficient, meaning that only about 25% (about 1 quart of every gallon) goes to effectively moving an automobile. The remaining 75 % is rejected as heat via the radiator and exhaust systems.

The LYDELL THIRD CYCLE internal combustion engine (patent pending) is based on the current internal combustion engine but adds mechanical changes and components to improve the efficiency by 100%. This is a technology that can be incorporated into the mainstream of engine building in a relatively short time, requires minimal tooling changes and is a direct replacement for current internal combustion engines.

Quick math will show us the impact of a 100% increase in automobile mileage and fuel cost reduction for the United States.

Gallons of gasoline consumed per day.  400,000,000 gallons
Times the average cost of fuel per gallon. $3.00 x 400,000,000 = $1,200,000,000

That’s over 1 billion dollars per day we’re spending for gasoline.
Average fuel mileage per gallon for all automobiles. 22.5 MPG
Average fuel mileage times 100% = 45 MPG

That’s a 50% reduction in fuel consumption and cost per day equals 600,000,000 gallons saved per day and $219,000,000 dollars saved per day.

That’s 10 billion gallons and about 31 billion dollars saved per year.
